Biography

Matthew comes from a background in aviation. He served for twenty-two years in the US Army as an Attack Helicopter pilot conducting Reconnaissance, Security, and Attack Helicopter Operations in various theatres, including Iraq and the former Yugoslavia. After retiring from the Army, Matthew worked for the Aviation Department of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office in the Florida Keys. He conducted various aviation missions supporting the Sheriff's Office, the Coast Guard, and the South Florida HIDTA Taskforce. These missions included Narcotics and Human Trafficking Interdiction, prisoner transport, Offshore Search and Rescue (SAR), and Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) operations. There, he helped develop their fledgling air ambulance program. He later moved to Texas and worked in the Helicopter EMS industry for ten years before going overseas to work in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, he was integral in developing a country-wide Air Ambulance program for the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. Later, he was invited to Erbil, Iraq, where he worked among a small group of former US Army Aviators that provided secure aviation support for the President and the Prime Minister of Iraqi Kurdistan.

Matthew had conducted investigative and intelligence-gathering work in his military and civilian aviation career that focused on mission security as well as compliance, safety, and standardization. He realized he had a knack for investigation and began preparing for a new career. After completing an education and training regime that supported a career in investigations, he opened Greyman Investigations to conduct criminal defense and civil litigation investigations.

Matthew is trained in the "Component Method" of criminal defense investigations as taught by the Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council (CDITC). He is also trained in the ethical, evidence-based, investigative interviewing methods taught by Wiklander-Zulawski & Assoicates, Inc.. Believing that detecting and interpreting emotional states and possible deception is a superpower for investigators, he is continually enrolled in the Paul Ekman Group's training program to detect and interpret subtle expressions and micro-expressions.
